Hypothetically, you have a shiny new android phone. You mount the flash card in it on your linux box, but, oh noes, you're getting errors when you rsync MP3s to it!
rsync: chgrp "/mnt/music/trance/Doof - Double Dragons.mp3" failed: Operation not permitted (1)
rsync: chgrp "/mnt/music/trance/Doof - Home on the Strange.mp3" failed: Operation not permitted (1)
The options to run rsync to avoid this problem are:
rsync -a --no-g --no-p /data/mp3/trance /mnt/music
With those, it tells rsync not to care about permissions. Yay!
